Kususa is a South African Electronic Dance duo formed late 2016 by Joshua Sihle Sokweba pka Kunzima Theology and Mncedi Tshicila pka Sumurai Yasusa.

They created Elecronic Dance Music containing elements of House Music, Afro Beat, Techno and African Music. Theduo’s name (pronounced: koo- su- sah), is both a combination of the pair’s stage names and a word which, when roughly translated in a South African language of Sona, means “to start over”.

Early in 2017, they remixed “De Major – Traveller feat. Lizwi” that went on to be charted Traxsource Top 200 Best Selling Afro House song of 2017, than later compiled by Black Coffee in his Ibiza compilation. The remix’s success continued the following year, seeing it getting licensed by House Music stable gaints Defected Records on their Ibiza 2018 compilation mixed by Sam Divine. Their music cataglogue, over the years, is spread throughout labeks such as; Get Physical, Cadenza Records, Connected Frontline, Moblack Records, DJOON Experience, Soulistic Music, N.E.O.N Tokyo and their newly formed label Back Noise Music Africa.

Early 2021 sees them signing and releasing their single, named “Piccolo” featuring Afro Pop sensation – Sam Opoku, under Armada Music BV’s imprint label Championship Music; a release on Defected Music Afro label – Sondela Recording plus a honorary remix release on Ultra Music, this setting their stamp as a formidable Electronic Music duo from Africa to the World.

Over the years Kususa has performed in a handful of countries, having shared stages with world renowned Electronic Music artists such as; Black Coffee, Henrik Schwarz, Monolink, Themba, &Me, Guy Mantzur and Innellea as well as handlining the Resistance stage at Ultra South Africa 2019.
They have graced one of Electronic Music’s biggest magazine – Mixmag issue cover back in 2019, shining light on Africa’s Electronic Music exports then than they went to perform on Mixmag The Lab leg down in Johannesburg the same year.
Kususa’s accolades include being named Trasource’s #13 Afro House artist of 2018 and they hold 7 Dance Music Awards – South Africa nomination between 2017 – 2019. They currently have 1.1 million yearly streams for 2021 on Spotify and ove 350 K listeners this year.
